Automatic class attendance and campus life visibility, designed for retention insight, not surveillance.
Location-based attendance
GPS matched to class schedule and building locations. Within ~80 meters during class → present. More than 10 minutes late → late. Class in session 15+ minutes with no nearby signal → absent. Location off → unknown (not penalized). No manual check-in. Attendance is one of the strongest predictors of grade outcomes and a key retention signal in the VIP dashboard.
Campus engagement intelligence
Beyond classes: gym visits, library time, athletic events, research labs, dining, arts events. Venue matching and pattern recognition (regular_gym, library_regular, athletics_fan, research_engaged) build a behavioral profile. Low campus presence = potential retention risk. Correlation analysis: engagement patterns vs. GPA, retention, graduation rates.
Privacy-first design
Location data is processed only within campus geofences. Off-campus data is immediately discarded. Students opt in. The system encourages but never forces. Framed as a tool to help, not surveillance. AI never uses surveillance-style phrasing about where you were; it frames responses as "Since you seem to enjoy..." Purpose is student success and retention.
